The Sociology of Science Committee of the Chinese Society of Science and Science and Technology Policy was established on November 24, 2012. It is one of the main positions of the domestic sociology of science research community. It currently has members from major universities and scientific research institutes across the country. 105 people, members with senior professional titles account for 38.1 of the total number, and 23.8 are studying for doctors and masters. The first chairman is Li Zhenzhen, a researcher at the Institute of Science and Technology Strategy Consulting of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the current chairman is Professor Zhao Yandong of Renmin University of China. The purpose of the special committee: under the leadership of the China Association for Science and Technology, organize a large number of scientific and technological workers in this discipline to actively carry out academic exchanges and activate academic ideas; popularize the knowledge of the sociology of science, promote the dissemination and application of the research results of the discipline, and promote the prosperity and development of discipline construction; select and train outstanding young talents for the research, education and popularization of the sociology of science. The National Symposium on Science and Society is a brand conference sponsored by the special committee, which is held every two years to promote the theoretical research and practical exploration of sociology of science.
