Chairman Mu Rongping delivered a keynote speech at the "World Science and Technology Association Development and Governance Forum"
The 6th World Forum on the Development and Governance of Science and Technology Associations
On November 7, the 6th World Science and Technology Association Development and Governance Forum co-sponsored by the China Association for Science and Technology and the People's Government of Fujian Province was held in Xiamen, Fujian. With the theme of "Collaborative Construction of a New Ecology of Innovation and Development", this forum held three parallel forums and one youth leadership salon of science and technology associations around such topics as open cooperation driving new changes in science and technology associations, digitalization of science and technology associations, construction of high-quality journals, and youth leadership of science and technology associations. More than 400 people, including heads of well-known science and technology associations and international organizations at home and abroad, and research experts of science and technology associations participated to share and exchange the achievements and contributions of science and technology associations in solving major global science and technology problems, and explore new paths for the opening, coordination and cooperation of science and technology associations under the new situation.
Chairman Mu Rongping delivered a keynote report on the current situation and trend of the development of global science and technology associations. The report is based on a series of global science and technology associations conducted by the Research Association for five consecutive years. Through the analysis of 5054 science and technology associations in more than 70 countries around the world, the report describes the development of science and technology associations from three aspects: governance ability, leading ability, and influence ability. The distribution of regions, countries, disciplines, etc., comprehensively analyzes the development trend of science and technology associations, and puts forward suggestions for the development of China's science and technology associations. The report was highly concerned and praised by the participants. The project research was jointly completed by the Research Association, Xi'an Jiaotong University, Nanjing University of Information Engineering, and the Institute of Science and Technology Strategy Consulting of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
The forum released the Blue Book on the Development of Global Science and Technology Associations jointly compiled by the Science and Technology Innovation Department of the China Association for Science and Technology and the Research Association, which systematically sorted out the development history, discipline layout, management mechanism, and best practices of global science and technology associations, and looked forward to the bright future of science and technology associations and scientific and technological innovation. Chairman Mu Rongping served as the director of the editorial board, Secretary-General Chen Guang served as the deputy director, and directors such as Du Peng, Li Qiang, Meng Fanrong and Cui Weijun participated in the preparation as members of the expert group. This book is one of the important academic achievements of this year's research society, which reflects the profound research strength and influence of the research society in the field of science and technology associations.
